When my daughter told me that she could find my “real laugh,” I questioned her thinking. But after I saw her perform her “real laugh procedure” on her friend, I was convinced she could find my real laugh.
To find your real laugh, you need to lie down on the floor and cross your arms across your chest (like an X). You then begin with a fake laugh such as "ha.. ha.. ha..." and have someone press down on your chest. Before you know it, you start laughing until you can't control it. No matter how hard you try, you won't be able to stop laughing. That's your real laugh! This laugh is contagious and will cause a domino effect of laughter in the room.
I’ve heard that a child smiles and laughs on average 300 times per day, whereas an adult smiles and laughs on average, only fifteen times per day. Why is that? Because a child lives in the moment, but adults are constantly on the go, thinking about what they need to do next, trying to problem-solve whatever is on their mind at the time, and in a non-stop mode of go, go, go. It’s important that we learn to be intentional about adding more laughter into our lives. There are so many health benefits to laughter, such as:
*Lowers blood pressure
*Increases vascular flow
*Reduces certain stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline
*Makes you look younger
*Helps you cope with anxiety
*Relaxes your muscles
*Is a natural pain killer
So next time you’re having “one of those days,” either find someone to do the “real laugh procedure” on you or find something else to laugh about.
