While visiting London, England, I was able to visit the Tower of London. There, you will find the Queen’s jewels, which include the largest diamond in the world, the Cullinan Diamond, valued at 400 million dollars. Since its discovery in Cullinan, South Africa in 1905, not only did the value go up, but it’s been split into nine different pieces. You will find it on the Queen’s scepter, crown, necklaces, and rings. Words cannot describe the brilliance of such stunning diamonds. As you walk by the guarded glass cases, you can sense the awe and respect of every visitor that passes by those jewels. That day I pondered not only the value of those diamonds, but how much more important it is to value people.
When I worked for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, I was part of the Enrichment Staff, which allowed me to be a regular guest when I wasn’t entertaining families. One day I went up to the guest services counter to ask a simple question. When I approached the counter, the gentlemen behind it gave me an amazing smile. In his French accent he asked me, “Madam, how is your day today?” I replied that I was having an awesome day, to which he responded, “But how can I make it even better than that?” It took me by surprise. Immediately, I knew that this guy was going to take good care of me! This guy was treating me like the most important person on the cruise at that moment. He made me feel valued.
How do you make your customers, clients, and co-workers feel when you are approached by them? If you treat them with high value, your own business will sky-rocket in value. Remember to show the value of others and add value to people today.
